Microdermabrasion for Acne Scar Removal – 6 Need To Know Facts

I am going to guess that you have heard about the amazing effects that you can get by using microdermabrasion to treat your acne and remove scars that come from this all too common skin problem. Since the popularity of this procedure is so great there have numerous microdermabrasion kits made available for purchase to use in your own home. Sadly enough the popularity of this treatment has also caused many companies to make imitation products or skincare clinics to provide misleading services.
It’s important to be careful because when not properly conducted, microdermabrasion could bring about further skin problems. It is still recommended that professionals perform the procedure so as to avoid incurring serious damage to the skin. If you are considering trying it out, you should set an appointment first with a trusted and licensed dermatologist or skincare specialist in your vicinity.
As a procedure, microdermabrasion is often performed on the skin covering the face, arms, and neck. Through the years, it has become a treatment and removal option, not just for acne and acne scars, but also for fine lines, thickened skin, brown spots, enlarged pores, and aging skin. Here are six important pieces of information that you should know about this skincare procedure.
1. You will find that there are new techniques for controlled microdermabrasion. Usually the procedure is done by using aluminum oxide crystal being applied into the skin using a pressurized nozzle and then being removed with a special device. What the crystals will do is remove the outermost layer of the skin and this reveals a fresher layer of skin. Now there are special devices which perform even more thorough suction to remove spent crystals as well as dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. This will allow much more precise skin treatment and the best part is that it is painless.
2. After one session, you are not done. If you are looking for the full effect of the procedure you are going to have to go for several sessions. There is no way that these procedures can be done all in one day. It is ideal that appointments are scheduled about two to four weeks apart. The time between these appointment is vital because your skin needs this time to heal properly in between these sessions. Do not get this procedure done as often as you want to because you could experience side effects that are not appealing.
3. If you want to rid yourself of acne it is important that you remember that there are specific microdermabrasion treatments that are available just for this problem. You may find some of these techniques that use traditional equipment but others are going to use more sophisticated treatment that uses additional agents other than that of aluminum oxide crystals. You should speak with your dermatologist or the skincare specialist that you see to find out which of these types of microdermabrasion is right for your acne condition and your skin type.
4. Peeling of the skin is normal especially after your microdermabrasion treatment. Some people tend to freak out upon seeing skin peeling following the procedure. There is nothing to worry about it. Skin peeling after microdermabrasion usually fades away after about 24 hours to 48 hours. This is also the reason why treatment sessions should allow healing time in between.
5. If you get a typical session of microdermabrasion you are looking at about $80 to $200. Your location and the expertise of the person that is doing the procedure has a lot to do with the price that you are going to have to pay. If you decide to go for an at-home kit then you may find some for about $20 but there is really no guarantee that you are going to get the same kind of quality results that you would get when you go to a clinic. It also has not been determined how safe those products truly are.
6. Microdermabrasion, as I said earlier, is now not only used as a way to treat acne or just an acne scar removal approach but it is also becoming popular for removing skin discoloration and stretch marks. This is a popular treatment for women who have had pregnancies. Basically anyone that is looking for a rejuvenation of their complexion can use this treatment. You could be able to use microdermabrasion to get the fresher, younger looking skin that you’ve been trying for.

The Truth About Laser Acne Treatments

Laser therapy could be used for many skin conditions. It could help remove unwanted age spots, skin discoloration, and wrinkles. It could also be used as an effective acne treatment. Specific laser procedures could destruct bacteria that cause problems accumulating deep within surface of the skin.
Two types of laser known as blue light therapy and pulsating light therapy will diminish swelling and redness caused by acne. These types of therapy have also been known to work on acne scar removal over longer periods of time. However, not unlike other traditional acne treatments, laser therapy comes with its list of pros and cons.
Pros
Mild to extreme cases of acne can all be successfully treated using laser therapy. The two types of laser – Blue Light Therapy and Pulsating Light Therapy work at killing the bacteria that causes acne and shrinking the skin glands that produce sebum. An overproduction of sebum clogs the pores which lead to acne. Listed below are some of the advantages.
Painless and rapid process. There is no pain incurred while these types of laser therapy are conducted, unlike the diode laser, which is known to be quite painful to the patient. Plus, both treatments are very quick. Blue light therapy only takes fifteen minutes to complete.
Fast results. For average acne cases, the desired benefits from laser are quick, typically showing positive results after approximately three sessions. And often results can be noticed after only one treatment. For more severe cases of acne, results can take anywhere up to six weeks. Compared to other conventional treatments, especially internal medications, these results are a lot quicker and can last up to two years.
Gets rid of bacteria. Topical acne solutions have failed at getting rid of the bacteria that causes acne, whereas laser has won. Topical solutions don’t get below the skin surface where the bacteria are growing, where laser does. Killing that acne-causing bacteria is paramount to the success of curing acne.
Diminishes sebum/oil production. Laser can shrink the glands (by damaging them) that produce sebum. Too much production of sebum clogs the pores. When the pores are clogged the bacteria under the skin can grow and cause acne.
Acne inflammation control. Again, overproduction of bacteria and natural oil lead to inflamed skin. The problem could be effectively treated using laser and modern technology today.
Cons
Some skin does not respond to laser therapy. For those that have sensitivity to laser, of course acne laser therapy is not recommended. Listed below are some negative outcomes and disadvantages that laser therapy could cause.
Inflammation of the skin. Laser treatment goes layers deep under the surface skin and can cause damage that makes the skin red and inflamed. If this happens, then the skin can become more sensitive over a period of time.
Excessive dryness of skin. There are specific laser acne treatments that excessively dry out the skin, leading to a more serious skin problem. One of such is blue light therapy. It could make the skin less responsive to lotions, gels, or topical creams.
Redness and Irritation. Some intense types of laser therapy cause irritation in the underlying skin layers. This irritation can lead to minor pain and tenderness which can also cause redness of the skin. This is a condition that may not clear up in a few days.
Overall, laser acne treatment is considered among the most effective approaches for controlling and getting rid of acne. It may have its pros as well as cons, but in the end, its effectiveness would set it apart compared to all other options to treat and control acne and resulting scars.

Tooth Paste For Pimples, What Variety Is Most Effective?
February 23, 2012 by Alison Graham
One of many most commonly encountered home remedies for spots is actually toothpaste. This choice is so popular for one reason — it genuinely works! After just one use of toothpaste for spots, allowed to remain on overnight, the spots may go away or at least be significantly lessened. The components in the toothpaste dehydrates any spot, taking out the dirt and oils; it generally operates in much the same strategy to a clay-based face mask.
As with virtually all natural pimple remedies, care ought to be taken to not worsen your skin or trigger additional harm. Just apply toothpaste for zits you have not popped; the external layer of skin should definitely be in one piece. Make sure you don’t use too much of the toothpaste – just an extremely very small quantity should be applied over the affected spot only (not surrounding skin).
Use tooth paste in paste form, not gel form, since the gel is more likely to burn your skin. Any toothpaste will do; don’t worry about the brand name. The perfect time to deal with the zit with tooth paste is directly before going to bed. Cleanse your whole face with your standard cleaning product and gently dry it. Rub the tooth paste into the pimple carefully using a clean fingertip, until eventually you can no longer notice it. Once you awaken the following day, carefully wash the pimple with a thoroughly clean, damp face cloth. Cleanse and also moisturize your face as normal.
As the elements in tooth paste dry out skin, it is not recommended to use this method more than a single night at a time. If you’ve extremely hypersensitive skin or perhaps suffer from more serious acne breakouts, try a little application of regular tooth paste on one pimple on an inconspicuous part of your face — like beneath your chin area — leaving it on for just five minutes. Steer clear from teeth whitening or fluoride toothpastes, which can be even more likely to irritate skin. If you do not have problems with any adverse effect, try it on another spot for a bit longer .
As with any pimple treatments, stop using toothpaste instantly if you encounter any soreness, irritation or another uncomfortable side effects. It is normal to have a slight stinging as soon as you first apply the tooth paste to a spot, which many individuals call a burning up experience, but it should never be painful at all.
Many people find that tooth paste is extremely efficient in reducing the size and also redness on their zits, with the advantage being that it’s actually a cheap way for you to deal with them! Everyone presently has got a tube of toothpaste in their house, so you do not even need to pay out any extra money. Using toothpaste for zits may not work for everybody, and it largely is determined by the severity of the acne as well as the individual’s type of skin. It is, however, really worth a go, and if it does the job in your case, you’ll be able to say goodbye to costly acne treatment products. If it doesn’t deliver the results, you will find lots of other home cures for these spots that you can have a go with.

Quick acting acne home remedies

There are many acne home remedies that work to clear up your skin and acne but most people do not know about them because they are washed out by skin care companies tv commercials. In this article today I am going to share with you some home remedies for acne that will benefit you greatly and really help you clear up your skin quicker from home.
The first thing that I recommend is to get a healthy diet, one that really supports your skin’s health. With this I recommend as many raw organic fruits and vegetables as you can on a daily basis. These contain vitamins, minerals and enzymes which keep your skin clear and healthy. Many of the foods that you currently eat probably don’t contain as much nutrition as you need. Processed and packaged foods are not very nutritious and often contain things which can cause acne breakouts.
The next acne home remedy recommendation that I would make would be to drink less soda’s, sports drinks and juices and more pure spring or purified water. These other drinks contain sugar, dye’s and preservatives which clog up and slow down your body. When you drink water you are hydrating your body, giving it what it needs and wants without causing problems. I recommend staying away from coffee, energy drinks, soda’s and fruit juices as these are very high in sugar and cause problems overall for your skin.
One of the liquids that I used to clear up my acne is apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar is a liquid that really cleanses and tones your skin. This liquid works wonders and I have seen this alone help people really change the complexion and health of their skin. You can wash your face and then put this liquid on it and you can also drink it with water internally.

Unsafe Acne Treatments To Stay Away From
February 21, 2012 by David King

There are many acne treatments and acne products on the market, some that work well and are safe and effective and some that work not as well. There are even acne treatments that work well but they are not too safe and I would not recommend them simply because this can cause problems in your health years down the road. It is important to understand which acne treatments are both effective and safe.
One acne treatment, which I do not recommend at all and recommend that you stay away from at all costs is accutane. My mother actually took accutane when she was in high school and it cleared up her acne fairly quickly but she later on discovered when she gave birth to her first born (my older brother) that accutane wasn’t the best decision. My brother was born with a birth defect because of accutane. The intersting thing was that it was years later, years after it was “safe” from accutanes perspective to have a child. This was just not the case.
Another acne treatment which I recommend you avoid like the plague is benzoyl peroxide. I was doing research on this and found that benzoyl peroxide was actually linked to cancer in lab rats. I find it interesting that “skin care” companies put this ingredient in their acne treatment skin care products even after knowing that this is the case in animal testing. It doesn’t make sense that this ingredient is even used at all too because the majority of people that put this on their skin get red dry skin very quickly. It does nothing more than bombard your skin with toxicity.
There are many ingredients that I recommend you stay away from in acne skin care products and acne treatment medications. The problem is that many of them try to attack your acne and get rid of it in stead of cure it naturally by bringing balance into your skin and health. I recommend a natural approach, using a natural diet as well as natural skin care products. There are plenty of holistic and natural acne treatments that you can use that work better, quicker and are safer for you!

What Is Acne?

Acne is commonly known as pimples or zits. It is a skin condition that commonly afflicts people during their teenage years. Acne pre-dominantly affects the face. Yet it can also show up on the back, neck, shoulders and chest. While most common in teenagers it can appear on adults as well. Neither race or gender is an indicator of acne as it affects male and female and all races the same.
Acne Vulgaris, “acne”, can be diagnosed by the lesions that form on the skin. These lesions can take several different forms: blackheads, whiteheads and cysts. Cysts are formed when the pore becomes completely blocked. Acne is most common during puberty because at this time the body is creating an excess of sebum, an oily substance designed to keep the hair and skin soft and lubricated. During puberty the production of sebum is greatly increased which can cause the skin to feel oily and clog pores.
During puberty there is also an increase in the production of follicle cells. Dead follicle cells mixed with sebum can build up and cause white heads. This combination of oil and dead cells is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria which will cause the swelling and redness that is associated with pimples.
Acne affects about 85% of all people sometime from the age of 12-24. Around 25% of these people will have acne on their back and/or neck as well as the face. The acne will be bad enough to cause about 40% of these people to want to have medical treatment.
Acne is most common on the face, especially on the forehead, nose and chin. The back is the next most common area of affliction followed by the neck, chest and shoulders.
Most people will have outgrown their acne challenges by the time they reach their twenty’s, but some people will continue to suffer from acne even as adults. In some cases people will not have any acne issues until they are adults. This happens more frequently in men than women.
Acne can have severe emotional and psychological repercussions. Since it affects their appearance it also affects self image and self esteem. Teenagers are especially vulnerable to this attack on their self-confidence. It can even trigger withdrawal from social situations and depression, as well as feelings of anger and frustration.
Fortunately in this day and age there are many treatments that can help with acne. The most important thing that can be done to help alleviate acne is to keep the skin as clean and oil free as possible. Washing the problem areas several times a day with soap and water, especially after any activity that triggers perspiration, is usually adequate. There are also many medications available by prescription and over the counter to help with acne control.
If the acne is bad enough you can consult a dermatologist who can prescribe medications for the skin as well as antibiotics to help fight the bacteria. They can also offer advise on life style and diet changes that might help with the condition.
Before engaging in any treatment, it is advisable that you contact your doctor.
